Baby Shower Gifts New Moms Want

Baby shower gifts can be tough, because you want to give something special and unique, but you also want to give the mom something she needs and wants. Yes, that rustic wooden sign is gorgeous, but perhaps the new mom is already done decorating the nursery or it doesn’t fit the décor. Perhaps the outfit you think is absolutely adorable she already has. So here are 5 unique baby shower gifts that the new mom will want (and will honestly thank you for!)
1. A gift certificate for someone to clean her house.
This was one of the most unique baby shower gifts I received. At first I wasn’t sure, I had never had someone come in and clean my house. (I also grew up thinking that maintaining the house was my own responsibility.) But let me tell you, after I had a baby, I realized how hard it is to keep up with everything, especially housework. I was beyond grateful to have that certificate when the holidays came around. It was the most unique baby shower gift I received (and my favorite!)
2. Meal delivery kit.
Generally, parents are in “survival mode” the first couple weeks at home with a new baby. Their main focus is figuring the whole parenting thing out and generally food is an afterthought. Send the new mom a couple of meals from a meal delivery service like Hello Fresh or Plated, so they can have a healthy, home-cooked meal without having to plan it and grocery shop.
3. A gift card to a nearby restaurant.
If the new mom isn’t really into cooking, buy her a giftcard to one of her favorite (and close by) restaurants (instead of the meal delivery kit). She will be forever grateful when her tummy’s starting to growl.
4. A giftcard to Amazon, Walmart, or Target.
The new mom will be running to the store (or ordering stuff on Amazon) a LOT during those first couple weeks (heck, even the whole first year). Make it easier on her finances and give her a gift card to make buying diapers, wipes, pacifiers, and bottles easier.
5. Something on her registry (surprise, surprise).
I know, not a unique gift in and of itself, but guess what? If you don’t buy the new mom one of these gifts, then she will most likely have to buy it herself later on (and she doesn’t need more stuff to do.) So give the new mom something she really wants and is asking for. (She didn’t spend hours creating a registry for nothing!)
Bonus tip: If you want to make bringing a card containing a gift card or gift certificate a little more special, tie on some helium balloons. It’ll add to the shower décor and make it a little more fun!
Hope these creative baby shower gift ideas will make your life easier and help you give the new mom a gift she will honestly thank you for!
