If you want to plan a special night with your significant other or even a nice dinner with friends, this recipe is a MUST. This steak recipe is soooo easy and makes the most tender, flavorful steaks I’ve ever had! This is saying a lot since I was raised in Nebraska and ate a lot of steaks growing up!
Tips:
-
- My personal favorite type of steak to use in this recipe is top sirloin. I typically buy them in multiples of 4 at Sam’s Club. If you don’t want to spend quite so much on steak, I think you could get away with a cheaper cut of meat since this marinade does an awesome job tenderizing the meat.
- When I’m cooking the steak, I use my meat thermometer to monitor the temperature. I do realize that most fancy cooks say you aren’t supposed to puncture the meat while it’s cooking (or still warm), however I am by no means a gourmet chef; I am just trying to avoid food poisoning. I personally like to cook my steak to be somewhere between medium rare and medium, so usually around 135-140 degrees. It’s also worth nothing that the steaks continue to cook a little more after you take them out of the oven.
- Feel free to add more seasoning to the marinade or even to the steak as you are cooking it. A simple steak seasoning works well. I am trying to keep my recipes simple, so that people don’t get discouraged by a long ingredient list! I also know that everyone has different tastes, so feel free to add spices as desired!
- The top sirloin steaks that I buy are quite big and I usually only eat half (my husband never seems to have a problem finishing his!) I love to put my leftover steak on the Taylor Farms Asian Chopped Salad. I buy these salad kits from Sam’s Club and they make an awesome lunch. The kit includes toppings and dressing, so I just add some kind of meat. Every time I have company over, they always want to know how I made my salad – it’s always one of these Taylor Farms kits. Try them out, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
Easy (and Awesome) Steak Marinade
This easy steak marinade makes the most flavorful, tender steaks I’ve ever had. This marinade can be used in prepping freezer meals and makes marinading steaks effortless.
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 lbs top sirloin steak
-
Line a mixing bowl with a gallon sized resealable freezer bag.
-
Add all ingredients to the bag, including the steak.
-
Seal the bag, removing as much air as possible. Label the bag with the contents and date. Place the bag in the freezer.
-
To thaw, remove steak from freezer and place on counter top for approximately 8 hours or in fridge for 24 hours.
-
Cook steaks on grill to desired doneness. I have also cooked these steaks in the oven in a cast iron skillet at 400 degrees.
